A curated list of roguelike development resources

An awesome-list of roguelike development resources: procedural generation (dungeons, overworlds, caves, space), field-of-view algorithms, AI/pathfinding, tutorials, libraries, and open-source roguelikes to read for reference. It's for someone starting a roguelike who wants pointers to primary sources rather than a library or starter kit.

Breaks dungeon generation down by actual algorithm family (BSP, maze, cellular automata, graph-based, template) instead of a flat link dump, so you can jump straight to the technique you need. Many entries point at working code or devlogs rather than just blog summaries - TinyKeep's graph-based generator, the Dijkstra map writeups, Herringbone Wang Tiles - things you can port in an afternoon. It covers the whole loop a roguelike actually needs (map gen, FOV, turn-based AI, pathfinding), not just one trendy subtopic.

No updates since July 2021, and a chunk of the links already route through archive.org mirrors or point at dead Flash demos (tinykeep.com/dungen) in the README itself - more rot is guaranteed by now and nobody's checking. It's pure index with zero original content: the repo's entire value depends on other people's sites staying up, which several already haven't. The only signal on which links are worth your time is an occasional thumbs-up emoji - no annotations on why something's good or how two approaches compare, so you still have to click through most of it yourself.
