Swap around your iOS Simulator Documents
A Ruby gem that snapshots and restores an iOS Simulator app's Documents/Library/Cache folders under a named label, with a git-like CLI (pull/push/rm/list). Useful for anyone who manually resets or switches between different simulator app states while testing — onboarding flows, empty states, populated data, etc.
The git-inspired command set (pull/push/rm/list/sync) is genuinely intuitive if you already think in git terms. The codebase is tiny and single-purpose — lib/chairs plus a small pow helper for file ops — so there's nothing to configure and little to break by misuse. It solves a real, specific annoyance (re-seeding simulator state by hand) that Xcode never addressed.
Last commit is from 2015 — this predates several Xcode/simctl overhauls to how simulator data is laid out on disk, so it's likely broken against any simulator from the last several major Xcode versions without someone forking and patching the path/parsing logic. It leans on simctl_parser.rb to scrape simctl output, which is exactly the kind of implementation detail Apple changes without notice, and there's no test suite in the tree to catch that kind of drift. No CI config either, so you have no signal on whether it still works before you try it.
