A macOS app to control the Xcode Simulator.

Control Room is a macOS SwiftUI app that puts a GUI on top of Apple's simctl, letting you control iOS/tvOS/watchOS simulators without memorizing CLI flags. It's for iOS/macOS developers who spend a lot of time in the simulator and want quick access to things like location spoofing, push notification testing, and UserDefaults editing.

It genuinely covers simctl's surface area — status bar overrides, custom locations, push/deep-link testing, UserDefaults editing, screenshots with device bezels — in one place instead of scattered shell one-liners. The menu bar quick-actions for resending the last push or deep link are a real everyday-friction fix, not a checkbox feature. It's built and actively maintained by Paul Hudson (Hacking with Swift), has CI and SwiftLint enforcement, and the code is organized cleanly into Controllers/Helpers/UI rather than dumped in one file.

There's no prebuilt binary or Homebrew cask mentioned anywhere — you have to clone and build through Xcode yourself, which is a real barrier for anyone who just wants the tool rather than to hack on it. Test coverage is essentially one file (SimCtl+SubCommandsTests.swift); the README itself admits testing is 'tricky' given the simctl dependency, so most of the app's actual behavior is unverified. The contribution guide calls out weak error handling as a known, unfixed problem rather than something already addressed. It's also tightly coupled to simctl's text output with no visible abstraction layer, so an Xcode update that changes simctl's output format could quietly break features with nothing catching it.
