WIP Move Along
A 2015 playground for server-side rendering with react-router, using a small contacts list as the only real feature. The README calls it a WIP, and the repo has not been pushed to since May 2015, so treat it as a historical reference for how SSR data loading and rehydration were wired in that era, not as a base to build on.
- The file layout separates routing, server rendering, client bootstrap, and data loading. routes.js is shared, and fetchData.js and rehydrate.js are their own modules, so the data contract is easy to find.
- One handler per screen (Home, Root, Contact, NewContact, CreateContact, NotFound) keeps each route's markup and data loading in one small file, which is a readable way to show the pattern.
- utils/cache.js and utils/write.js suggest it touches server-side caching and write paths, which most SSR demos skip.
- karma.conf.js and script/test mean a test runner is wired up, not just a dev server script.
- The last push was 2015-05-20, and the code targets the react-router API of that period. The server rendering entry points have changed since, so the code shows the idea but not current usage.
- The README is one paragraph plus an install block. It does not explain the data-loading flow, the rehydration step, or what the mega demo was supposed to cover, so you have to read server.js and the utils to learn the design.
- It describes itself as a WIP playground, and the planned mega demo never arrived. The contacts flow is the only real feature, and nothing in the tree suggests more was coming.
- The dependency set and build (webpack config, Heroku Procfile, script/dev) are from 2015. Expect npm install and the dev script to need fixes on a current Node install.
