⚡️ A Nuxt 4 Shopify template based on Hydrogen
Nitrogen is a Nuxt 4 template for building Shopify headless storefronts, essentially a Vue/Nuxt port of Shopify's own Hydrogen (React) starter. It's aimed at developers who want a Nuxt-based commerce frontend with cart, collections, search, and localization already wired up instead of building that plumbing from scratch.
The Shopify integration is split into proper Nuxt modules with server-side proxy routes for both the Storefront and Admin GraphQL APIs, so API tokens never reach the client. Codegen (codegen.ts/codegen.schema.ts) generates types directly from the Shopify schema, so the `useShopify()` composable and its operations are fully typed end to end. Feature coverage is genuinely broad for a template: filtered/paginated collections, metafields on product pages, search, localization, and an optional Sanity CMS sync for content — not just a cart demo. Deployment target is Cloudflare Workers via nuxthub/core, which is a sensible, cheaper alternative to Vercel/Netlify for SSR commerce traffic.
There's no test directory or testing setup anywhere in the tree — for something handling cart mutations and checkout-adjacent logic, that's a real gap for anyone adopting it beyond a prototype. The query caching in the GraphQL client is opt-out by default for collection/product/search queries, and the README's own warning about hydration errors if you cache the wrong thing suggests this is a sharp edge that will bite someone unfamiliar with the codebase. It's a single-maintainer project (310 stars) with docs hosted externally on Netlify rather than in-repo, so there's no guarantee the docs and the code stay in sync over time. Admin API access is proxied server-side, which is good, but bundling Admin-scoped credentials into a storefront template at all raises the blast radius if someone misconfigures the proxy.
