Shopware 5 core

Shopware 5 is an open-source PHP e-commerce platform built on Symfony 4, Doctrine 2 and Zend Framework, and this repo is its core. The README says the repo is no longer maintained and points to a Safefive fork that still gets infrastructure compatibility updates. This is mainly for people who already run a Shopware 5 shop and need to read the source or move off it.

The extension model is the strongest part. The README names an event-driven plugin system and a hook system, so customizations can live in plugins instead of patches to core. The schema history is kept as numbered migrations under _sql/migrations, with entries from the 100s through the 1700s, so you can trace how tables changed across releases. It also ships an install SQL file and a demo data dump, which makes it quick to get a populated shop running and step through the code paths.

The status notice is the biggest problem. Updates may land occasionally and nothing is guaranteed, so security and compatibility work falls on whoever adopts it, or on the fork. The stated requirements of PHP 7.4 and MySQL 5.7 are both well past end of life, and Apache with mod_rewrite is the only web server the README documents. The install guidance suggests chmod 777 as a fallback, fetches test images over plain HTTP with wget, and marks the Makefile as dev-only, so there is no production hardening advice here. The license section names both GPL v3 and AGPL v3 for the same project, which needs resolving before anyone ships a modified copy.
