Open-source business management system with ERP, POS, invoicing, and CMS features. Laravel-based, Docker-ready. Still in active development.

Samarium is a Laravel + Livewire monolith bundling invoicing, basic accounting, POS, inventory, a CMS, and a bit of CRM into one self-hosted app. It's aimed at small businesses that want a free alternative to commercial ERP suites, and at developers who want to poke around a reasonably sized Laravel/Livewire codebase.

The module toggle in config/app.php (enable/disable dashboard, product, shop, calendar, etc.) is a real feature, not just a README claim — useful if you only want the POS half and not the CMS half. Docker Compose setup is complete enough to get a working instance in a few commands, which most side-project ERPs skip. The feature surface is genuinely broad for a single codebase: double-entry-style accounting views (ledger, journal, trial balance, balance sheet) sit next to POS and CMS, which is unusual scope for a project this size.

The author's own README flags this as early-stage with thin test coverage, and that's the biggest risk here — an accounting/invoicing module with no meaningful tests is where silent bugs cost someone real money. The Livewire component tree is enormous (hundreds of small components under app/Livewire) with no apparent API layer, so integrating with anything external or even headless-testing a flow means touching Blade/Livewire directly. Stray files like ExpenseList.bak.php and ProductCreate.bak.php sitting in the controller/livewire tree are a sign of thin review discipline. Despite 'fintech' and 'mid-sized-enterprise' topics, there's no mention of multi-currency, multi-tenant, or audit-trail support — the accounting module reads more like bookkeeping scaffolding than something a finance team could rely on.
