💯 The most essential list of resources for Front-End beginners (🇺🇸 & 🇫🇷)
A manually maintained list of front-end learning resources covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Git, with a French-language track alongside the English one. Aimed at absolute beginners who need a starting point, not developers looking for depth. Last meaningfully updated in late 2024.
The bilingual focus (English + French) is a real differentiator — most similar lists ignore non-English learners entirely. The emoji annotation system (free/paid, video, reference-tier) lets you scan quickly without opening each link. The resource selection is conservative and mostly points to established, quality sources like MDN, FreeCodeCamp, and Wes Bos rather than padding with random blog posts. Issue templates and a stale bot show at least some maintenance discipline.
The list is frozen in roughly 2018-era thinking — it recommends Atom (abandoned), Cloud9 (rebranded), and Code School (acquired and shut down). The roadmap it links is from 2019. There is nothing on TypeScript beyond one book, nothing on modern tooling (Vite, esbuild), and the frameworks section simply does not exist, which leaves beginners stranded the moment they finish the basics. With only three contributors and 406 forks but no visible PR activity, this is effectively unmaintained; links will quietly rot.
