Bra (Brilliant Ridiculous Assistant) is a command line utility tool.
Bra is a CLI hot-reload/live-compile tool for Go projects: it watches your source files, rebuilds on change, and restarts the binary. It's aimed at Go developers who want a fast local dev loop without wiring up their own file-watcher script.
The graceful shutdown handling (SIGINT with a configurable timeout before force-kill) is a detail a lot of hot-reload tools skip, and it matters if your app has open connections or cleanup logic. `bra init` scaffolding a `.bra.toml` template lowers the setup cost to basically zero. It's a single small Go binary with no runtime dependencies to install.
Last commit is from April 2023, so it predates two-plus years of Go tooling changes and there's no indication it's maintained. At 397 stars and 57 forks it's a niche pick next to `air`, which does the same job and has far more adoption and activity. The README shows zero configuration examples inline — you have to go read `default.bra.toml` separately to understand what's actually configurable. No mention of module-aware watching or exclude patterns for things like `vendor/` or `.git`, which any long-running project needs.
