Merb Plugins: Even more modules to hook up your Merb installation

A single repository of nine small plugins for Merb, the Ruby MVC framework that was folded into Rails. Each directory wraps one piece of a Merb app: ORM adapters for ActiveRecord and Sequel, a parts mixin, a jQuery helper, a Builder template helper, a Laszlo bridge, a browser-based spec runner, a story runner, and a test-unit helper. It is for teams that still run a Merb app and need to read or maintain these pieces, not for anyone starting something new.

merb_parts is the most substantial piece. It lets a controller render a self-contained part with its own controller and templates inside another view, and its fixtures cover HTML, XML and JS output, so each format is exercised rather than assumed. merb_sequel and merb_activerecord ship parallel session stores, generators and migration templates, so the two ORM paths can be compared side by side. merb_screw_unit runs specs in the browser against the running app, an unusual approach for its time and a useful reference for anyone building a similar in-browser runner. Each plugin keeps its own LICENSE, Rakefile, README and spec directory, so you can lift one plugin without the rest.

The last push was 24 February 2009. Merb stopped development once it merged into Rails, so these plugins target APIs that no longer exist and would need porting before they run on a current Ruby or Rails. No CI configuration appears in the tree, so nothing here shows the specs still pass, even on the Merb version they were written against. Seven of the nine plugins ship a TODO file, which usually means the intended feature list is longer than what the code does. The GitHub language tag says JavaScript, but the code is Ruby; the JavaScript in the tree is vendored jQuery 1.2.6 and Screw.Unit files that would need updating before reuse.
