// the take

XXL-BOOT is a Java/Spring Boot admin-panel scaffolder from xuxueli (the author of xxl-job and xxl-sso) that generates full CRUD stacks from a CREATE TABLE statement, shipped as a monorepo that can run as a Thymeleaf monolith or a separate Vue/React SPA. It's aimed at small teams and solo developers who need the usual internal back-office — users, roles, orgs, audit logs, dict/config management — without building it from scratch.

The code generator takes raw SQL DDL and emits the whole vertical slice (entity, MyBatis mapper + XML, service, controller, TS types, API client, view) plus the menu/permission SQL to wire it straight into RBAC — that's a genuinely complete generation step, not just entity scaffolding. It ships three working topologies from one codebase (monolith, Vue-separated, React-separated), so you pick a deployment shape instead of being stuck with whatever the template author used. It comes from xuxueli, whose xxl-job and xxl-sso are proven infrastructure used in production at real scale, so the RBAC/SSO/audit plumbing here is written by someone who's shipped this exact category of thing before. The .agents/skills SKILL.md files teach an AI coding agent the project's own layering conventions per mode, so generated business code follows the platform's actual patterns instead of guessing.

It's GPL-3.0, a copyleft license that creates real obligations for anyone embedding it in a closed-source product — worth checking before adopting, since most admin templates in this space use Apache or MIT instead. The monolith mode's UI is AdminLTE 2.x / Bootstrap 3 pulled in via Bower and vendored directly into resources/static, a frontend stack that's been stale for years and fine for an internal tool but not customer-facing. It's brand new and small (360 stars) with docs and the community channel mostly in Chinese, so English-speaking adopters are largely on their own and there's no production track record for this specific project, unlike xuxueli's older tools. The generated CRUD is only as good as the table DDL you feed it — it covers boilerplate layers, but real business logic, deeper validation, and non-trivial relations still need to be hand-written on top, the same ceiling every SQL-to-code generator hits.
