DeepL RapidAPI 的 Bob 插件,可能是中国 macOS 用户可以无痛使用的相对合法的最便宜的 DeepL 翻译方案。
A Bob plugin, for the macOS translation client, that sends text to DeepL through a RapidAPI wrapper instead of DeepL's own API. It is aimed at people in mainland China, who often cannot pay for DeepL directly because DeepL does not accept Chinese cards, while the RapidAPI listing does.
- The whole plugin is a small surface: one main.js, an info.json, and an automated release workflow in GitHub Actions. That makes it quick to read and audit before installing.
- The free tier of the wrapper, at 500,000 characters a month, covers ordinary personal use. The README gives real prices in CNY and USD, so the cost comparison with DeepL's own plans can be checked.
- Rotating across comma-separated API keys is a concrete attempt to get around the per-minute rate limit (30 requests per minute on the free plan), rather than just surfacing HTTP 429 errors to the user.
- The README is open about the billing risk. It states the per-request overage charge and disclaims responsibility for any costs the RapidAPI account incurs.
- The last push was July 2024, more than two years before today. Nothing in the repo shows the plugin has been checked against the current RapidAPI listing or against recent Bob plugin API changes.
- Everything depends on one third-party listing from a single vendor. If that listing is repriced, rate-limited, or taken down, the plugin stops working, and the README names no fallback endpoint.
- The free plan allows 100 requests a month, and extra requests bill at $0.0024 each. The request cap runs out much sooner than the character cap for anyone translating sentence by sentence, and the README offers no guard against the overage.
- The README discourages spreading load across several free accounts, but the multi-key feature exists and the README describes no quota tracking. The repo has no tests in the listed tree, and its documentation is Chinese-only, so it is hard to adopt for readers who do not read Chinese.
