stable-diffusion-webui-pixelization

A stable-diffusion-webui extension that runs an image through a pretrained GAN pipeline to turn it into pixel art, exposed as a postprocessing script in the Extras tab. Useful for people already running AUTOMATIC1111's webui who want a one-click pixelization filter without setting up a separate inference script.

It wraps an actual published pixelization network (WuZongWei6/Pixelization's VGG19 feature extractor + alias net + CycleGAN generator) rather than a naive downscale-and-quantize filter, so results are closer to hand-drawn pixel art. Integration is minimal — one postprocessing script, no extra UI to learn, drops straight into the Extras tab. The codebase is small enough to read end to end in a few minutes if you want to understand or modify the pipeline.

Model weights aren't fetched by install.py — you have to manually pull three .pth files from Google Drive, and the README admits the license blocks reuploading them anywhere, so there's a community pixeldrain mirror of unknown provenance as the fallback. No commits since mid-2024, so it hasn't tracked webui API changes since; it's an open question whether it still loads on a current install. No tests, no CI, and no way to verify the mirrored weights haven't been tampered with beyond trusting a random pixeldrain link.
