// the take

A teaching demo from Dan Wahlin showing an AngularJS + BreezeJS CRUD app with a hand-rolled route provider that lazy-loads controller scripts and views via RequireJS. It's built to pair with his AngularJS video courses and blog posts, not to be used as a real application.

The dynamic controller/view loading pattern (convention-based script loading via RequireJS instead of bundling everything upfront) was a genuinely useful technique for the pre-webpack SPA era, and it's a clear, readable reference implementation of it. It also shows the same app wired to two different backends (ASP.NET Web API/EF and Node/Express/MongoDB) behind a single config flag, which is handy if you want to see BreezeJS talk to both a SQL and a NoSQL store. The custom directives (unique-value validation, $http/jQuery XHR loading interceptor, menu highlighting) are small, self-contained, and easy to lift out and read in isolation.

AngularJS itself hit end-of-life in January 2022 and this repo depends on it plus BreezeJS and RequireJS, all dead or dormant ecosystems — nothing here is a pattern you'd reach for today, and there are no newer commits fixing that. The README says authentication is client-side only and explicitly not production-ready, so the app has no real security model. The .NET side targets Visual Studio 2015/2013 and old EF/LocalDB tooling, so getting it running at all on a current machine means fighting legacy SDKs rather than learning anything transferable. It's a single-purpose course companion, not a maintained project — there's no indication anyone is fixing bugs or taking contributions at this point.
