Companion repo to an Ethereum/Solidity course on Udemy
This is the code-along repo for Stephen Grider's Ethereum/Solidity Udemy course, covering a handful of separate dApp exercises (Inbox, Lottery, Kickstarter clone) built with Truffle-era tooling, web3.js, and Next.js. It's for someone taking that specific course, not for anyone looking for a standalone project or reference architecture.
The contracts are small and readable (Campaign.sol, Lottery.sol are each well under 100 lines), so you can actually trace the full flow from Solidity to a Next.js frontend without getting lost. Each exercise is self-contained in its own folder with its own package.json, so you can run one without pulling in the others. Includes test files (Campaign.test.js, Lottery.test.js) showing basic Mocha-based contract testing, which a lot of tutorial repos skip.
No package.json or lockfile visible at the repo root and the dependency versions inside each subfolder are from the Truffle/web3.js 1.x era — expect broken installs or deprecated-package warnings on any current Node version. Last push was May 2024 but the actual content (2146 stars aside) reads as unmaintained since the course itself is old; no CI, no migration to Hardhat or ethers.js, no mention of gas costs or updated Solidity compiler pragmas. It's exercise code with zero documentation beyond a one-line README — without the paid course walking through it, there's no explanation of why the contracts are structured this way or what the deploy scripts assume about the network.
