Build and Deploy a Modern Next.js 13 Application | React, Next JS 13, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS

A tutorial project from JavaScript Mastery that builds a car listing site with Next.js 13's App Router, pulling car data from a RapidAPI cars endpoint and rendering images via Imagin Studio's car photo API. It's aimed at people learning App Router SSR patterns, not at anyone wanting a reusable car marketplace.

Filtering, pagination, and manufacturer search are all driven by URL search params read server-side, so the listing page stays server-rendered and shareable/bookmarkable instead of leaning on client state. The component split (CarCard, CustomFilter, SearchManufacturer, ShowMore) is small and typed cleanly with TypeScript, so the App Router data flow is easy to trace end to end. Zero extra dependencies for state management — it just uses what Next.js and React already give you.

Hard-wired to two paid/rate-limited third-party APIs (RapidAPI cars-by-api-ninjas and Imagin Studio) with no mock data or fallback, so the app does nothing until you sign up for both and drop keys in .env. There are no tests of any kind. The README is mostly YouTube/Discord/course marketing with almost no explanation of the actual filtering or SSR logic, so you're reverse-engineering the code instead of reading docs. Last pushed mid-2024 against early Next 13 App Router conventions, and the flat, tutorial-shaped structure (one components folder, no data layer abstraction) won't hold up if you try to grow it past a demo.
