Please try to implement the project on your own before proceeding to the lectures & code.

A tutorial clone of Zerodha's Kite trading dashboard built as a three-piece MERN app: a marketing frontend, a trading dashboard, and an Express/Mongoose backend for holdings, positions and orders. It's built to follow along with a specific YouTube course, not to run as a real app.

The split into frontend/dashboard/backend mirrors how the real product is actually structured, so it's a decent way to practice multi-app MERN layout instead of one monolithic React tree. The dashboard components map cleanly 1:1 onto real trading UI concepts (Holdings, Positions, Orders, WatchList, BuyActionWindow), which is useful if you're trying to learn the domain, not just the framework. Mongoose schemas are kept separate from models, so the data layer is at least legible.

backend/.env is checked into the repo — whatever was in there when it was committed is now public history, and it normalizes a bad habit for anyone copying this as a starting point. There's no auth at all: orders, positions and holdings are unscoped CRUD against Mongo, so in its current form any client can read or write any record. No tests anywhere in frontend, dashboard, or backend. The README is a single sentence telling you to watch the lectures first — no setup steps, no env var list, no run instructions — so without the accompanying video this repo alone won't get you running.
