Terraform supermodule for the Terraform platform engineering for Azure
A Terraform supermodule that provisions dozens of Azure resource types from one module, with one .tf file per resource family and numbered tfvars examples for each. It was built for the Azure Terraform landing zones and suits platform teams already working in that structure, or anyone who would rather take one module than assemble a dozen separate ones.
Each resource family has its own file (compute_aks_clusters.tf, api_management.tf) and matching numbered examples under examples/, so finding a working pattern for a given resource is quick. CI is split by domain (pr_tests-networking, pr_tests-compute, pr_tests-dataplat), and the repo carries tflint and pre-commit config. The examples are plain tfvars files, so the inputs are readable and diffable without learning another HCL layer.
The README's first warning says Microsoft will no longer accept contributions and points customers to Azure Verified Modules. That matters more than anything else here if you are starting something new. The last push was 2025-03-02, more than eighteen months before this evaluation, so expect provider and API changes from since then to be missing, and plan on forking. The examples lean on landing-zone conventions such as global_settings.tfvars and keyvaults.tfvars, which are explained in a separate repo, so the module is hard to use cold.
