A Laravel package for the Firebase PHP Admin SDK
A thin Laravel service provider and facade around the separate kreait/firebase-php Admin SDK, giving you Firebase Auth, Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging, etc. via dependency injection or a Firebase facade instead of instantiating the SDK's Factory yourself. Aimed at Laravel apps that need Firebase server-side and don't want to hand-roll credential bootstrapping.
Multi-project config is handled properly — you can register several Firebase projects in config/firebase.php and pull a specific one via Firebase::project('name') instead of juggling multiple Factory instances yourself. Credential handling covers the real deployment matrix: JSON file path, inline array in config, or auto-discovery via GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS, so it works the same in local dev and containerized/CI environments. It's genuinely battle-tested — 1M+ monthly downloads per the README badge and CI (GitHub Actions) running on every push.
The package itself is almost no code — four files (ServiceProvider, FirebaseProjectManager, FirebaseProject, Facade) — meaning essentially all the behavior, bugs, and API surface you'll actually hit live in the separate firebase-php repo, so you're reading two projects' docs to use one library. The README doesn't show a single example of calling an actual Firebase service (no auth, Firestore, or messaging snippet); it just shows how to fetch a component and then defers entirely to external ReadTheDocs. Test coverage (3 files) is limited to service provider registration and project manager resolution, not integration behavior — if the underlying SDK's contract shifts, this package's tests won't catch it. The org just moved from kreait to beste in January 2026 with an unusually direct sponsorship pitch in the README, worth a quick check that maintainership and package signing didn't change along with it.
