A webpack-based toolkit to build your React Native application with full support of webpack ecosystem.

Re.Pack is a Metro-compatible bundler for React Native that runs on Rspack or Webpack instead, giving you access to the webpack plugin ecosystem and, more importantly, Module Federation for microfrontend-style mobile apps. It's for teams hitting Metro's ceiling — multi-team apps that need independently deployable mini-apps, or projects that need a webpack plugin Metro has no equivalent for.

Module Federation support is real and exercised, not just advertised — there are two full tester apps (tester-federation and tester-federation-v2) covering host/mini-app splits across iOS, Android, and Expo. The dev-server package reimplements the pieces Metro's dev server normally hides: a proper WebSocket HMR/symbolication/devtools stack, not a thin wrapper. It's maintained by Callstack with a changesets-based release flow, CI test matrix, and commits as recent as yesterday, so it isn't an abandoned side project.

The README tells you almost nothing — every real detail lives on an external docs site, so you can't evaluate the actual API surface from the repo. Maintaining Metro-equivalent behavior on top of two different bundler backends (webpack and Rspack) is a lot of ongoing surface area for a project this size, and that's the kind of thing that breaks on RN upgrades. At ~1945 stars it's a fairly narrow tool — if you don't specifically need Module Federation or a webpack-only plugin, there's no reason to take on this instead of Metro.
