// the take
A small Android library that wraps `OnTouchListener` to detect 1- and 2-finger swipes, pinch/unpinch, and double taps without pulling in a full gesture-detection framework. It's aimed at older Android (pre-Compose) apps that need basic multi-touch gestures with minimal setup.
The API is genuinely simple: one listener interface, drop the object onto any View's `setOnTouchListener`, done. It covers both 1- and 2-finger cases (swipe, pinch, double tap) in a single class instead of needing separate detectors stitched together. Callbacks give you fingers, duration, and distance, so you get enough raw data to build custom thresholds instead of being locked into the library's own.
Last commit is from 2018 and the version is still 1.2 — this is dead, with no Kotlin API, no coroutines/Flow support, and no path for Jetpack Compose, which is where multi-touch gesture handling has largely moved. The README's primary install instructions depend on JCenter, which shut down in 2021, so half the setup guidance is non-functional and JitPack is the only real option now. There's no lifecycle awareness (you have to manage attaching/detaching yourself) and no tests, so correctness of the swipe/pinch detection math is unverified beyond manual use. The `OnFingerGestureListener` interface forces you to override every callback even if you only care about one gesture, which is boilerplate-heavy compared to modern listener adapters.
