The Most Powerful Swipe Layout!
A pre-AndroidX Java library for adding swipe-to-reveal gestures (the iOS Mail-style delete/action drawer) to ListView, GridView, RecyclerView, or any ViewGroup. It's for developers maintaining older Android apps that still use the Support Library and haven't moved to Jetpack Compose's SwipeToDismiss.
Works across every classic Android list widget instead of being locked to one, which was genuinely rare when this shipped. Exposes onOpen/onClose/onUpdate callbacks and a drag-state model that's flexible enough to support nested swipeable views. 12k stars and years of production use means the touch-handling edge cases (fling velocity, multi-directional swipe, interrupted gestures) are actually battle-tested, not theoretical.
Dependencies are stuck on com.android.support (support-v4, recyclerview-v7 21.0.0) — this predates AndroidX entirely and will conflict with any modern project unless you run Jetifier, which Google has been trying to kill. Last meaningful commit activity is years old despite the 2023 push date, so don't expect fixes for API-level regressions. The 'must use the internal adapter instead of your own' requirement (BaseSwipeAdapter/RecyclerSwipeAdapter) is an invasive integration model that fights you if your app already has adapter inheritance or DiffUtil-based adapters. No Kotlin API, no Compose interop, and the README's only documentation is a wiki link and screenshots from a 2015-era demo app.
