Movie collection and information app for Android.
Philm is a Trakt/TMDb-backed movie collection and discovery app for Android, built by Chris Banes around 2014. It's aimed less at end users today and more at Android developers looking at a historical example of pre-Architecture-Components app structure.
Wires up two real third-party APIs (TMDb for metadata, Trakt for watchlist/check-in sync) plus AccountManager-based auth, which is more realistic than the usual todo-app sample. Ships a decent set of hand-rolled custom views (CollapsingTitleLayout, AutofitTextView, PinnedSectionListView) written before AppCompat/Design Support Library covered these cases. Comes from a credible author with production Android experience, so the code isn't throwaway sample quality.
Dead since ~2015 in practice — the 2020 push is a license/readme touch-up, not active development, and there's no Kotlin, no AndroidX, no Architecture Components, nothing from the last decade of Android tooling. README is just the Apache license text: no setup instructions, no screenshots, no explanation of the MVP-ish architecture it's using. No visible test directory in the tree, and no CI configuration, so there's no signal the app even builds against a current Gradle/AGP/SDK combination without real work.
