emmabostian/badass-conference-talks
A flat markdown list of conference talk YouTube links, organized by topic (Tech, Design, TED). That's it — no code, no tooling, no metadata, just a README with links. Useful if you're building a personal watchlist and want a starting point curated by Emma Bostian circa 2021–2024.
The talk selection is genuinely good — Philip Roberts on the event loop, Rich Harris on reactivity, Ryan Dahl's Node.js regrets, and Martin Fowler on event-driven architecture are all worth watching. Topics span frontend, backend, FP, accessibility, and career, so there's breadth without being random. Several picks are non-obvious choices that don't appear on every 'must-watch' list.
The repo stopped getting PRs merged in early 2024 and was already slow before that — many talks linked are from 2017–2019, and there's no indication of which are still relevant vs. superseded. No metadata at all: no year, no conference name, no runtime — you have to click every link to know what you're getting into. There are duplicate entries (Jeffrey Way's Laravel talk, Addy Osmani's JS cost talk) which suggests the list isn't being actively maintained or reviewed. And as a plain markdown file with no search, filtering, or rating, it doesn't scale — at this size you're just scrolling.
