Resources for aspiring speakers

A markdown link dump for developers who want to start speaking at tech conferences. It covers finding CFPs, getting accepted, preparing talks, and recommended reading. This is purely a resource list, not a tool or library.

The CFP discovery section is genuinely useful — Papercall, Sessionize, and CFP Watch are the real places people actually find calls. The book list is solid and not padded with garbage. The checklists linked in the 'stay organized' section (90 days out, 1 day out) are the kind of practical detail most guides skip.

Several links are dead or going nowhere useful — Speaknet Slack on Heroku, Technically Speaking, Community Megaphone, and a handful of others have been gone for years. The repo hasn't had a meaningful update since 2025 and shows signs of bit rot throughout. There's nothing here you couldn't find by searching for 20 minutes; the value was in the curation, but that curation is now aging poorly. No contribution from anyone other than the original author, so the community hasn't kept it fresh.
