A curated list of awesome C++ (or C) frameworks, libraries, resources, and shiny things. Inspired by awesome-... stuff.
A giant, long-running link list of C and C++ libraries, frameworks, and tools organized by category — audio, concurrency, compression, GUI, and dozens more. It's a starting point for 'what's out there' when you're evaluating options in an unfamiliar C++ subdomain, not a library or tool itself.
Categories are genuinely useful for scoping a search — e.g. Concurrency alone lists task schedulers, lock-free queues, and GPU primitives side by side so you can compare approaches without ten separate searches. Entries include license tags inline, which saves the step of checking each repo before adopting anything. 73k stars and pushes as recent as this week mean new libraries do get added, so it isn't a dead snapshot from 2016.
No annotations beyond a one-line description and license — no indication of which entries are still maintained, which are effectively dead, or which one to pick when five libraries solve the same problem (e.g. eight different CLI argument parsers with no guidance). Entries accumulate but almost nothing seems to get pruned, so long-abandoned or superseded projects (like retired Apache stdcxx) sit next to actively developed ones with equal billing. As a single flat README it's already huge and only grows; finding the right entry means ctrl-F and hoping the category boundaries make sense, there's no search or filtering.
