SMS plugin for libpurple, supporting Twilio and VOIP.ms

A libpurple plugin that turns Pidgin (or any libpurple-based client) into an SMS client by proxying through Twilio or VOIP.ms's APIs. Useful for someone who wants to send/receive texts from a desktop IM client instead of a phone, but only if they're already invested in the Pidgin ecosystem.

The scope is tight — two carriers, two source files, no attempt to be a general messaging framework. Solves a real gap: libpurple has protocol plugins for every chat network under the sun but nothing for plain SMS. Using existing carrier APIs (Twilio, VOIP.ms) instead of rolling GSM/modem handling means the actual protocol logic is minimal.

Dead since 2019 — Twilio's API surface has moved on since then and nothing here suggests it's been re-tested against current auth or webhook formats. One star, zero forks, zero issues/PRs to gauge whether it ever worked reliably for anyone but the author. Two .c files with no test directory, so correctness rests entirely on manual testing that stopped six years ago. No README-level detail in the tree to tell you setup steps, credential handling, or how incoming SMS webhooks get delivered to a desktop client sitting behind NAT.
