Good first issues for GSoC 2023
A static list of links to 'good first issue' tickets across various orgs (RocketChat, Zulip, Element, Oppia, etc.), assembled for GSoC 2023 applicants. It's for students trying to find an entry point into a GSoC org before the application deadline.
- Saves the initial time-sink of digging through a dozen unrelated repos' issue trackers by hand
- Groups issues by language, which is the first filter most beginners actually apply
- Points at orgs with genuinely active GSoC programs rather than random projects
- The content is entirely a README of hyperlinks — no code, no tooling, nothing to run or extend
- Frozen to GSoC 2023: most of these issues are almost certainly closed or stale two years later, and there's no 2024/2025 follow-up
- No dates, difficulty tags, or issue status, so half the links likely 404 or point to already-merged work
- 689 stars for a link dump says more about GSoC season traffic than lasting value — nothing here is reusable once the cohort passes
