sobolevn/awesome-cryptography
A curated list of cryptography resources and links.
A giant awesome-list of cryptography resources: theory (books, courses, papers), standalone tools (gpg, sops, certbot), and libraries broken out by language from C to Swift. Good as a jumping-off point for someone who wants a map of the crypto landscape rather than a library they're going to import.
- Organized by language and category with anchor links in the TOC, so you can skip straight to e.g. Rust or Go libraries instead of scrolling past the C section
- Mixes theory with working tooling — git-crypt, sops, certbot, blackbox — so it's not just academic link soup
- Keeps up with newer, actively maintained projects (the noble-* suite, ring, rage, orion) alongside the old guard, which a lot of awesome-lists let go stale
- 7k+ stars and a GitHub Actions lint workflow (lint-checks on PRs) means broken links and format drift get caught, unlike most abandoned awesome-lists
- Zero annotation on library health — rust-crypto and several of the Delphi/Lisp entries haven't seen a commit in years and sit next to actively maintained alternatives with no signal either way
- No opinion when a category has a dozen overlapping options (the JavaScript crypto section alone lists ~25 libraries with nothing to steer a reader toward one)
- Lists MD5 and SHA1 in the hash functions section with only a passing mention they're broken — fine for a historical reference, risky for anyone skimming and copy-pasting a name into their project
- Entire value is the link list itself; there's no code, no examples, so quality lives or dies on upkeep and this kind of list rots the moment nobody reviews PRs for six months
