// the take
A line-by-line Chinese annotation of the Redis 2.6 source tree, covering essentially every single-instance module (data structures, the event loop, RDB/AOF persistence, scripting) while explicitly skipping Sentinel, replication, and cluster. It's a companion to the book 《Redis 设计与实现》, aimed at Chinese-speaking developers who want to actually read and understand how Redis is built rather than just use it.
The annotations are genuinely comprehensive across core modules like dict.c, ziplist.c, t_zset.c, and ae.c, not just scattered comments on a few interesting files. Keeping the diff to comments plus whitespace means you can diff against upstream antirez/redis and trust that nothing else changed, so you're reading real production code, not a simplified rewrite. Pairing it with a published book gives the annotations a coherent narrative instead of being disconnected notes.
It's frozen on Redis 2.6, a version that's over a decade old and missing modern features like streams, cluster improvements, and ACLs that later annotated forks (the author's own 3.0 version, or community 6.0/7.0 annotation projects) cover. Last push was 2020 and the project is effectively done, not maintained. The deliberate omission of replication, Sentinel, and cluster means anyone trying to understand Redis's distributed behavior gets nothing here. Comments are entirely in Chinese, so it's a hard sell for anyone who doesn't read Mandarin despite the code itself being broadly useful to study.
