All the Git-it Workshop completers!
Patchwork is the fixture repo behind jlord's Git-it tutorial app: learners fork it, make a branch, and open a real pull request to practice the actual GitHub workflow, and a bot (@reporobot) merges each PR and rewrites index.html to list the contributor. It's for people who've never done fork -> branch -> PR before, not for anyone looking for a library or tool.
Uses the real GitHub PR flow as the lesson itself instead of simulating it, so what you learn transfers directly to actual open-source contribution. Extremely low-friction to run — it's a static site plus a bot, no build step or dependencies for the learner to fight with. Genuinely durable as a teaching prop: 41,829 forks against 1,164 stars is the expected shape for a repo whose whole purpose is being forked, and PRs were still being merged as of December 2025.
The repo itself has become a graveyard of thousands of CONTRIBUTORS/*.txt and .rtf files with no cleanup or consolidation, so cloning it is pulling years of one-line artifacts you'll never look at. There's no real code to read — 'Language: Rich Text Format' tells you this is a data dump, not software, so it's a poor fit for anyone browsing for implementation ideas. It depends entirely on the reporobot merge bot staying alive; if that bot stalls, the whole teaching loop (fork, PR, get merged, see your name) breaks silently for the learner with no fallback.
