ktorio/ktor-documentation
Documentation for the Ktor framework.
This is the source for Ktor's official documentation site (ktor.io/docs), built with JetBrains' Writerside tool. It bundles the Markdown/XML doc topics alongside a parallel Gradle project of runnable code samples for every documented feature. Useful for Kotlin/Ktor developers who want a working reference project for a specific feature (auth, sessions, JWT, OAuth, etc.) or who want to contribute doc fixes.
Every code example in the docs has a matching, compilable project under codeSnippets/snippets with its own build.gradle.kts and an ApplicationTest.kt that actually exercises it (auth-jwt-hs256, auth-oauth-google, auth-ldap with a docker-compose for the LDAP server, etc.) — so these aren't dead prose snippets, they're tested mini-apps. It's officially maintained by JetBrains with recent pushes, so it tracks current Ktor releases instead of rotting. There's a direct feedback loop (per-page 'was this helpful' widget plus YouTrack issue tracking) that actually gets reviewed.
It's not a library — there's no runtime code to adopt, only a reference project generator, so it's a narrow fit for a 'repo to check out' recommendation. The docs build is locked to Writerside, JetBrains' own authoring tool, so you can't easily preview or build the rendered site without that toolchain; the cfg/ files are meaningless without knowing Writerside conventions. The snippets directory is heavily duplicated — dozens of near-identical Gradle projects each with their own checked-in gradle-wrapper.jar — which bloats a clone for little benefit. There's also repo hygiene debt: .DS_Store files and .gradle/ build-cache directories (fileHashes.lock, executionHistory.bin) are checked into version control, which is sloppy for an official JetBrains project.
