listen1/listen1_desktop
one for all free music in china (Windows, Mac, Linux desktop)
A desktop player for Windows, macOS and Linux that searches and plays songs from seven Chinese services (NetEase, QQ, Kugou, Kuwo, bilibili, Migu, Qianqian) through one interface, with favorites and playlists. It suits people who want one player across those catalogs and can navigate Chinese-language service listings.
- The provider adapters live in listen1_chrome_extension, a submodule the browser extension also uses. One set of site scrapers serves two clients, and the desktop code in app/ (main.js, preload.js, functions.js, floatingWindow.html) stays focused on windowing and playback.
- Packaging covers every target: npm scripts build Windows x86 and x64, macOS, and Linux x86 and x64 installers, and .github/workflows/release.yml automates the release build.
- Seven sources behind one search means an outage or takedown on one service doesn't leave the app empty.
- Each source is a scraper against endpoints nobody documents. When NetEase or QQ changes an API, that source breaks until someone updates the code, and the listed tree has no test directory to catch regressions early.
- A fresh clone builds nothing useful until `git submodule update --init --recursive` is run, and provider fixes have to go into a different repository than the desktop app.
- The README is Chinese-only and covers install and build in a few lines. There is nothing on architecture, how to add a provider, or what the app needs from the network, so contributors outside that audience will struggle.
- It streams from platforms whose terms almost certainly don't permit third-party playback, and the README says nothing about that. LICENSE.md covers the code, not the streamed audio. Anyone packaging this for distribution should settle that first.
