An integration test framework for React Native.

Cavy is an integration test framework for React Native that lets you write black-box tests in plain JS and run the same suite against both iOS and Android, driving the app by component test hook names rather than a native automation layer.

No native tooling setup (no Appium, no XCUITest/Espresso config) — it's a pure JS library wired in via a component, so CI setup is trivial. The API (`fillIn`, `press`, `exists`/`notExists`) maps closely to how a QA person would describe a manual test case, which keeps tests readable. Cross-platform by design: one test file drives both Android and iOS builds.

Last push was November 2023 and the README still lists React Native >= 0.59 as the requirement — there's no indication it's been validated against the New Architecture (Fabric/TurboModules) or RN 0.7x, which is a real risk given how much RN's internals have changed. It only tests through your own component tree via test hooks, so it can't catch anything at the native layer or interact with system UI (permission dialogs, keyboards, etc.) the way Detox or Maestro can. The roadmap link points to a dead Pivotal Tracker project, and contribution docs reference a separate DefinitelyTyped PR process, suggesting the type definitions aren't maintained in-repo. Development activity has clearly stalled — worth checking open issues for New Architecture compatibility before adopting.
