Gruber Darker color theme for Emacs 24+

A single-file dark color theme for Emacs, porting John Gruber's BBEdit scheme via Jason Blevins' original Gruber Dark port. It's for Emacs users who want a low-contrast, warm-toned dark theme and don't need broad out-of-the-box mode coverage.

Trivial to install and maintain — one .el file, no dependencies, published on both MELPA and MELPA Stable so `package-install` just works. It's been stable for years with the same visual identity, which matters for a theme people stare at all day. The color choices (muted oranges/greens on near-black) are genuinely easy on the eyes compared to high-contrast default themes.

The README admits mode coverage is whatever the maintainer personally uses — if you're in a less common major mode, expect unstyled or default-colored faces until someone bothers to send a PR. No screenshots newer than an imgur link from years ago, so you can't tell how it actually looks in a modern Emacs with modern packages (LSP, treemacs, etc.) without installing it. Last push was mid-2024 with low commit frequency historically, so don't expect fast turnaround on face additions for newer packages.
