// the take
A personal build log for a pick-and-place machine controlled by OpenPNP, with the OpenSCAD source for 3D-printed parts, a bill of materials, and Marlin firmware tweaks. It's for hobbyists building their own PnP rig who want real mechanical designs to copy or adapt rather than a software tool.
The OpenSCAD files are parametric and split by subsystem (X/Y axis, camera mounts, tool changer, electronics enclosures), so individual parts can be remixed instead of taking the whole machine as one blob. Pairing STLs with the .scad source means you can print as-is or tweak dimensions for your own rail/motor combo. The BOM and Marlin firmware modifications fill in the two gaps OpenPNP's own docs leave to the builder.
Development stopped in mid-2021 and the README says work is on hold indefinitely due to funding, so no fixes for the known problems (the author explicitly flags the X/Y Igus rails as inadequate and never published the planned MGN9 rail rework). It's a single build documented by one person, not a kit or reproducible design others have validated, so expect missing dimensions, fit issues, and no support if your sourced parts differ. There's no versioning or tagged releases, so you can't tell which STLs correspond to which revision of the machine in the photos.
