DEPRECATED. Home screen widget for Android 4.2+
DashClock is a now-dead Android home/lock screen clock widget that shipped its own extension API so other apps could plug status data (weather, missed calls, calendar, Gmail) into the widget face. It's for Android devs curious about pre-Jetpack widget architecture or anyone doing archaeology on a well-known 2013-era app, not for anyone trying to build or ship something with it today.
The extension model is the actual interesting part: a separate `api` module defines AIDL interfaces (`IExtension`, `IDataConsumerHost`) so third-party apps can run out-of-process and push `ExtensionData` to the widget without the host needing compile-time knowledge of them. It ships both an example extension and an example host app, so the API isn't just documented, it's demonstrated end to end. The widget rendering is also split cleanly into its own `render` package with separate collapsed/expanded view builders, which was a reasonable separation of concerns for RemoteViews-based widgets at the time.
It's dead: last commit 2017, no maintenance intended badge front and center, and it predates AndroidX, Jetpack, and basically every Android API change since Marshmallow — none of this builds or runs on a current target SDK without real surgery. It's AIDL and Binder IPC for cross-app communication, which Android has been actively trying to get apps away from since scoped storage and background execution limits landed. The weather extension hits the Yahoo Weather API, which was shut down years ago, so that extension is non-functional as-is. There's also no tests anywhere in the tree, so cloning this to learn from it means reading implementation, not verified behavior.
