A collection of simple Bash scripts
A grab-bag of beginner-level Bash scripts covering basic scripting patterns, math exercises, and a handful of sysadmin one-offs. It's aimed squarely at people learning shell scripting from scratch, not at anyone looking for production-ready tooling.
Each script is small and self-contained, so you can read one in under a minute and understand exactly what it does. Good coverage of fundamental shell idioms — while/read loops, menus with select, trap handling, positional args — that are genuinely useful to see worked examples of when you're new to Bash. The README's category breakdown (System Administration, Math, Utility, etc.) makes it easy to find a script that demonstrates a specific pattern.
Half the 'scripts' are toy math exercises (factorial, Armstrong numbers, decimal-to-binary) that have nothing to do with real shell scripting and just pad the count. No tests, no shellcheck in CI, and several scripts (encrypt.sh, remotebackup.sh) touch security-sensitive operations without any indication they've been reviewed for correctness. Last push was January 2025 and there's no versioning or changelog, so there's no signal on which scripts are still maintained versus abandoned. It's a learning reference, not a library — nothing here is meant to be imported or depended on, so there's no API stability to speak of.
