A set of ~20 numbered bash scripts that accompany Julia Evans' 'Bite Size Bash' zine, each one demonstrating a single concept (quoting, globs, traps, pipefail, parameter expansion, etc.). It's for people working through the zine, or anyone who wants small, runnable bash snippets to poke at instead of reading prose explanations.
The file-per-concept structure makes it easy to run one script, see the output, then open it in an editor to see why — that loop is the actual teaching mechanism, not the README. It covers the stuff that actually bites people (pipefail vs not, unset variable errors, trap, subshells vs background processes) rather than just syntax basics. The files/ directory has deliberately awkward test fixtures (filename with spaces, owned_by_root.txt) so examples hit real edge cases instead of hand-waving them.
Without the zine itself, several scripts are just numbered files with no explanation of what they're supposed to teach — the README punts entirely to a paid product. No shellcheck or CI wired up despite one script being named after it, so nothing guarantees these still behave the same across bash versions. Last pushed April 2024 with no real activity since, and at 317 stars it's a niche companion artifact rather than a resource people independently discover and use.
