A simple 2D python game designed to teach you the pygame module.

A single-file pygame project (main.py) built as a teaching example for a space-shooter-style 2D game, aimed at complete beginners who want to see pygame basics — sprites, movement, sound — in one script rather than a real game architecture.

Small enough to read start to finish in one sitting, which is the point for a first pygame project. Includes actual assets (sound effects, sprite images) so it runs out of the box instead of being pseudocode. requirements.txt means setup is a single pip install.

It's one script with no modules, classes for game state, or separation between rendering and logic, so it doesn't teach patterns you'd reuse in anything bigger than a toy. No tests, no comments explaining the trickier pygame calls (collision, event loop timing) despite being pitched as educational. The README isn't documentation at all — it's an ad for the author's paid course, with zero mention of controls, how to run it, or what the game actually does. Last pushed in Oct 2024 with no signs of being maintained past the initial upload.
