// the take
A free, Spanish-language intermediate Android course (sequel to Android-Expert) built around a small horoscope/tarot app, teaching MVVM, Navigation Component, StateFlow/coroutines, and Retrofit. It's for junior Android devs who already know Kotlin basics and want to see a 'real-world-ish' layered app built live on Twitch.
The sample app actually follows the MVVM/clean architecture it teaches: distinct domain/data/ui packages, a use case layer (GetPredictionUseCase), repository interface + impl, and mappers/interceptors around Retrofit instead of just hitting the API raw. It includes real unit tests (ViewModel test, response mapper test, a mother-object test data builder) and an instrumented UI test, which most tutorial repos skip entirely. Uses current-ish tooling (Gradle Kotlin DSL, Navigation Component, StateFlow) rather than AsyncTask/LiveData-era patterns.
Everything — README, code comments, class/package naming conventions implied by the course — is Spanish-only, so it's a non-starter if you don't read Spanish. It's a teaching artifact, not a library or starter template: the app itself (a horoscope/tarot card screen) has no reuse value outside following the lessons. Last push was July 2024 and the course content maps to specific live Twitch sessions, so this reads as finished and unmaintained rather than something that'll track future AGP/Kotlin/Compose changes. No visible LICENSE file, so reuse/redistribution terms for the code are unclear beyond 'it's free to watch.'
