Hack-the-SDGs/minethon
A Python-first Mineflayer SDK for building Minecraft bots with a typed, high-level async API.
minethon wraps mineflayer (via JSPyBridge) in a synchronous, typed Python facade aimed squarely at teaching kids/students to write Minecraft bots without touching Node.js, async, or EventEmitters. It's built for a specific coding-camp curriculum (quest examples, group/personal account shorthand) rather than general-purpose bot development.
Type stubs are auto-generated from mineflayer's official d.ts with a drift check script (check_stubs.py) so the typed layer doesn't silently rot; that's a real engineering discipline most teaching SDKs skip. The single-event-API decision (EventAdaptor override only, no decorator soup) and explicit version pinning for non-bundled plugins are opinionated but sensible choices that reduce footguns for beginners. Test suite is split unit/integration with mocked JS bridge calls, and lint config is unusually thorough (per-file ruff rule carve-outs, pyright strict mode).
README is Traditional Chinese only, which caps the audience hard despite this being a technically interesting bridging pattern worth wider adoption. It depends on JSPyBridge, a somewhat obscure and low-maintenance Node-Python bridge library — pinning to 1.2.6-1.3 shows the maintainers already worry about breakage there. At 7 stars/3 forks with a very narrow declared audience (a specific SDG hackathon/camp), this is more of an internal teaching tool open-sourced than a project designed for outside contributors, and the quest-example-heavy structure will need pruning if you just want the SDK.
