The Complete Intro to Web Dev v3, as taught on Frontend Masters
This is the source repo for Brian Holt's 'Complete Intro to Web Dev v3' Frontend Masters course — a Next.js site that renders a sequence of markdown lessons covering HTML, CSS, JS, and basic DOM/AJAX work. It's for absolute beginners with little to no coding background, not for anyone already comfortable with a text editor and git.
The lesson content itself is genuinely well-sequenced — HTML through DOM events through fetch/async-await, each with a hands-on project (calculator, blog, coffee shop page) rather than just theory. It's free to read on GitHub even without a Frontend Masters subscription, which isn't true of most of their other course repos. The code license (Apache 2.0) is permissive if you want to fork the site mechanics.
The lesson content itself is CC-BY-NC-4.0, so you can read it but not reuse or republish it commercially — a real constraint if you were hoping to build on the material. It's built on Next.js pages router with a 2020-era dependency set; it works but isn't a template you'd want to learn modern Next.js from. Without the accompanying paid video, the standalone markdown loses a lot of the explanation — this repo is a companion artifact, not a self-contained course. There's no interactive checking or exercises beyond 'build this project and compare,' so a true beginner has no way to verify they got it right.
