// the take

A minimal TodoMVC implementation in Elm, built as the canonical example for people learning the language. It's for developers evaluating Elm or coming from the TodoMVC project's other framework implementations to see what idiomatic Elm looks like.

The whole app lives in one file, so the Elm Architecture (Model/Update/View) is visible end to end without hunting across modules. It demonstrates a real localStorage port, which is the first non-trivial thing newcomers need to see since Elm has no built-in persistence. Being a TodoMVC entry means it's directly comparable line-for-line against the same app in React, Vue, etc.

Last pushed in January 2020 - it predates several Elm tooling and ecosystem shifts, and with Evan Czaplicki largely stepped back from active Elm development, don't expect fixes if the build instructions drift from current elm/html or compiler versions. No tests at all, which is odd for a reference example meant to teach good practice. It's a single Main.elm with no routing, no HTTP, no JSON decoding - useful for the architecture pattern but it won't show you how a real Elm app handles the parts that actually cause pain (talking to a backend, handling decode failures, scaling past one file).
