Terraform Provider for Google Cloud Platform

The official Terraform provider for GCP, jointly maintained by Google and HashiCorp, covering GA (generally-available) resources only — beta/preview GCP features live in a separate google-beta provider. This is for anyone provisioning GCP infrastructure with Terraform, which in practice is most GCP-via-IaC shops.

Backed by both Google and HashiCorp with dedicated teams, so resource coverage tracks GCP's API surface closely and stays current. Splitting GA and beta into separate providers is a sane way to keep version-pinned production configs from accidentally picking up unstable resources. The changelog directory alone (thousands of individual entries) is evidence of genuinely active, high-frequency maintenance rather than a project on autopilot.

The repo is generated output from magic-modules — you cannot send a PR here for a bug fix or new resource; every change has to go through the separate generator repo, which is a real barrier for first-time contributors who don't know that going in. The README is just a set of links to external docs with zero code examples, so you get no sense of provider ergonomics without leaving GitHub. The .changelog directory holding one file per PR is an odd, cluttered way to track history and makes the repo unpleasant to browse or clone shallow-vs-full.
