Better playgrounds that work both for Objective-C and Swift

// the take

A playground/hot-reload tool for Objective-C (and basic Swift) iOS development, built on top of code-injection tools (Dyci, injectionforxcode) so you can edit code and see UI changes live in the simulator without a full compile cycle. Aimed at developers doing rapid UI/animation prototyping in older Objective-C-heavy iOS codebases.

The DSL for timeline snapshots, value adjustment, and animation (KZPShow, KZPAdjustValue, KZPAnimate) is a genuinely nice way to tweak parameters and see results without rebuilding. It runs in the real simulator with full iOS API access rather than a sandboxed playground, so what you prototype is closer to production-ready. IDE-agnostic injection (works from vim, not just Xcode/AppCode) is a real advantage over Swift Playgrounds.

Dead project: last push was 2022, and the core mechanism depends on Dyci and injectionforxcode, both of which are themselves unmaintained code-injection hacks that tend to break with new Xcode/Swift toolchain versions. Swift support is explicitly described as 'basic' and bolted on via a different injection tool than the Objective-C path, so the two modes aren't really one coherent system. Setup requires installing and babysitting an external kicker gem process via a manual build-phase script with no automatic cleanup, which is fragile and easy to leave running. CocoaPods-only distribution with no Swift Package Manager support makes it awkward to pull into a modern project at all.
