"When services are loosely coupled, a change to one service should not require a change to another." ― Sam Newman

// the take

This isn't a project, it's a folder of 22 PDF books about microservices (Newman's Building Microservices, Microservices Patterns, etc.) with a README that's just a bullet list of links. There's no code, no tooling, nothing to run — it's a reading list disguised as a repo.

The book selection itself is decent and covers the space reasonably well: architecture (Newman, Richardson's Patterns), language-specific takes (Node.js, Python, PHP, Java, Spring), and infra-adjacent topics (Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka Streams). If you're new to microservices and want a reading list, someone already assembled one.

These are scanned/converted copies of commercially published, copyrighted books hosted directly in the repo — this is textbook copyright infringement, not open source, and the repo (or your fork of it) is a DMCA takedown waiting to happen. There's no code to evaluate, no tests, no maintenance signal beyond 'last pushed 2019' — it's a dead file dump. Several PDFs are likely OCR'd or poorly converted scans with the usual formatting rot that comes with pirated book PDFs. There's nothing here that distinguishes it from just searching for these book titles yourself, and legally you shouldn't be redistributing them this way regardless.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
