A collection of custom post processing effects for Unity
Kino is a grab-bag of custom post-processing effects (Streak, Recolor, Glitch, Slice, Sharpen, etc.) for Unity's HDRP, built by keijiro, who's known for dozens of small, sharp Unity graphics utilities. It's for Unity devs on HDRP who want stylized camera effects — glitch/VHS looks, anamorphic streaks, false-color grading — without writing custom shaders from scratch.
Each effect is a self-contained shader + C# volume component, so you can cherry-pick just the ones you want instead of pulling in a monolithic post-processing stack. Installs cleanly via UPM scoped registry rather than dropping loose files into Assets. Unlicense means zero licensing friction for commercial use. The effects themselves (Glitch's five sub-modes, Slice) are genuinely distinct from what's in Unity's stock post-processing package, not reskins of the usual bloom/vignette set.
Last commit is from November 2020 and it's hard-pinned to Unity 2019.3 / HDRP 7.1 — HDRP's API has moved enough since then that it likely won't drop into a current project without porting work. HDRP-only, so URP or built-in render pipeline users get nothing here. No tests, no CI, no issues/PR activity to gauge whether anyone's still using it in modern projects. Documentation is just a README with GIFs — no explanation of the shader techniques or how to extend the volume components yourself.
