Terraform provider for managing Snowflake accounts
The official Terraform provider for Snowflake, maintained by Snowflake itself, covering databases, warehouses, users, roles, grants, and most other Snowflake object types through generated SQL. It's for teams running Snowflake who want infra-as-code instead of manual DDL or console changes.
Resource coverage is enormous — 100+ resources and data sources spanning everything from basic grants to Cortex agents, Openflow connectors, and MCP servers. It's maintained directly by Snowflake with real CI (unit tests, golangci-lint, goreleaser), not a community reverse-engineering job. Preview and experimental behavior is gated behind explicit flags (preview_features_enabled, experimental_features_enabled), so breaking changes in those areas can't land silently on a minor bump. There's also a dedicated migration guide for Snowflake's own platform behavior-change bundles (BCR), which is a level of care most provider repos don't bother with.
OpenTofu is listed in the OpenTofu registry but explicitly untested and unsupported — a trap for anyone not on literal Terraform CLI. Official support only applies to stable resources from v2.0.0 onward; a large fraction of the resource list (Cortex agents, MCP servers, Openflow, semantic views) is preview-only and can change shape without a major version bump. Non-primary platform builds (Windows arm64/386, Linux 386, Darwin 386, FreeBSD) are published but explicitly not prioritized for fixes if they break. The repo root also has leftover test artifacts (.github/.pr-test-file, -2, -3) checked into the tree, which is minor but a sign some CI testing cruft never got cleaned up.
